Diploma in Optometry and Low Vision
University of South Asia run DOLV course which addresses the growing need for well-prepared eye care professionals. Optometry is an eye health care profession concerned with the health of the eyes and related structures, as well as vision, visual systems, and vision information processing in humans. Optometrists are licensed medical professionals trained to prescribe and fit lenses to improve vision, and to diagnose and treat various eye diseases.

Academic Session for Diploma in Optometry and Low Vision program shall extend over a period of 1 year, 3 semesters.
A student must attend all the classes. Up to three absences, per course, in a semester may be excused.
This is a professional diploma course. Any one meet one of the following requirements are eligible for admission.
- Higher Secondary Certificate passed (Science group preferred)
- Successfully completed course from MATS.
- Diploma in Nursing completed
- Graduation in any subject.
The University calendar is arranged so that students may start in January, May or September.
You are required to complete 3 semesters to obtain 30 credits.
You will cover a rotating combination of:
Optometry & Low Vision
Face-to-face teaching, lectures and seminars.
Through course assignments and/or in-class tests, plus formal examinations.
Access to computer facilities and library
Employment of optometrists is expected to grow by 33 percent from 2010 to 2020, much faster than the average for all occupations. Optometry is a field that offers plenty of job opportunities to suit a variety of wellbeing and skills. There is a growing need for greater numbers of properly-trained Optometrists at all levels of governmental and non-governmental organizations including international health agencies. They are leaders who meet the many exciting challenges in protecting the eye related problems today and in the future. Optometrists provide the majority of primary vision care services.
